In 1978 Bohonus stepped in as Athletic Director, before his untimely passing in 1995. Under Bohonus' leadership from 1979 to 1994, the Cougars earned 41 provincial college championships and seven national titles. Each wall panel is uniquely designed to evoke pride and inspiration in all viewers while effectively communicating Mount Royal's storied history in the ACAC and CCAA with an emphasis on the expectation of future Canada West and U SPORTS championships.īohonus, a widely regarded influential figure within Alberta and Mount Royal for his perseverance in the growth and development of collegiate sports, is highlighted with a large-scale photo and biography in the redesigned hallway. The project included a tribute panel to Al Bohonus, historic ACAC and CCAA Champions, Mount Royal University student-athlete awards and U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian awards.
